These are just awesome. You really should think about putting these in a book to make a campaign setting out of it. What city is this all centered around? Maybe it can be part of a shared universe with Megapolis and Empire City- or maybe they could meet as part of some Crisis?

What is Empire City?

Also a big problem of a Crisis or Shared Univers for me is that my campaign is set Bronze Age, 1984 to be exact. I originally had it as more modern, but I feel Bronze Age is more where I enjoy running supers.

In 1978 the United Nations approached the Guardians about becoming a sanctioned international team. This idea was opposed by both Doctor Destiny and Golden Hornet, but Guardsman accepted nonetheless.

This UN demanded a more international roster, but Guardsman resisted as much as he could. Eventually he added the first international hero in 1979, the Brazilian Bombshell;

Hailing from Rio, Amazona claimed to be a warrior princess from the rain forest. A lost tribe of warrior women descended from the legends of ancient Greece. Given her Portuguese heritage some suspected that it wasn't true, still the story was accepted publicly nonetheless. Her strength, imperiousness and ability to fly could not be doubted.

An interesting side note are the amount of times her costume choices had to be refused, finally settling on the one pictured above, which ironically was the one with the most covered skin.

While she was never romantically linked with any of her teammates, she was exceptionally flirty with them all, especially Guardsman whom she seemed to enjoy tormenting with her antics.

She was with the team when Übermann attacked and was not seriously injured. She returned to Brazil after these events, retiring from the team.

Your Amazona obviously was my inspiration for Ordem e Progresso.

I'm sure that Chiron will find a nice home for them in his universe. We are planning a Latin American superteam, and Ordem e Progresso are among their ranks.

In my quest to create this universe and really distill it down to essentials, I realized I had my Superman (The Guardsman) and my Wonder Woman (Lady America) but I had no Batman. So I turned to my readers, my players and my friends and came up with;

Image

In 1936 young Thomas Hallaway was a rich, bored playboy with far too much money and no where near enough motivation. His drunken outings and string of inappropriate encounters left him the embarrassment of the upper crust. After getting the daughter of a rather important international financier pregnant, a group of "old money" conspirators got together and decided to do something about Tom.

Using their contacts, they hired a secret group of assassins known as the "Society of the Spider" to kidnap and assassinate Hallaway, thereby having his entire estate fall into the possession of his unscrupulous cousin Howard. The plan went off without a hitch, and Thomas was soon in the clutches of the Society. With all the conspirators there to witness the event, the acolytes of the Society lashed Hallaway to a giant web and called forth a gargantuan spider, that they worshiped as a god, to feed on him.

Unknown to the conspirators or the Society, Hallaway's loyal valet Chuck had followed them and infiltrated the meeting. As the giant spider bit into Hallaway, Chuck lept from the shadows and fired his .45 into the giant spider, killing it. The cultists were horrified but that quickly turned to rage as they swarmed Chuck seeking revenge. No one noticed on the web that Hallaway was not dead. In fact he was better than before. Somehow the spider's venom had transformed him, making him a very peak of human potential.

Leaping from the webbing and joining the fray, Hallaway quickly dispatched of the cultists and tied up the conspirators in the webbing. At Chuck's urging they left the scene, but not before calling the Police to round up the criminals.

Deciding that his life had been spared for a reason, Hallaway decide that he would use his second chance to make something more of himself. Fashioning himself a costume and using his vast resources to acquire various gadgets and weapons for the fight, he called himself the Spider and began his crusade on crime.

=-=-=-=-=

This character is based off the public domain version of "Alias the Spider" thought with heavy modifications added in to make him more than just a boring guy with a bow.

I thought about giving him a crossbow, but am not sure about it. I also debated giving him a gun too.

I see him having a network of spies, street kids, etc which he calls his "web" sort of like the Shadow's network of informants. I also see him being quite obsessed to the point where he eventually becomes that dark loner in a cave, waging a one man war on crime. When the government orders all heroes to unmask in the early 50's, the Spider doesn't even acknowledge them.

I also see him fighting the remains of the Society of the Spider, sort of Spider-Ninjas etc...

I did it in Photoshop, step by step. Took me about a week or so to get it just right, including tweaking. :)

During the Cold War the greatest hero of the West has been the Guardsman, but behind the Iron Curtain the greatest hero is Red Guard or as he is known in Russian;

Image

Image

Very little is know about the origins of Krasnuy Karaul (Red Guard) save what little the CIA has reported. He was an unnamed major in the Soviet Air Force, who became a cosmonaut early in the Soviet space program. He was sent into LEO (Low Earth Orbit) in the early 60s and suffered some sort of accident that lead to him developing an impressive arrays of powers. They are known to be, but not limited to;

• Super Sonic and Space Flight

• Energy Projection and the ability to create constructs out of solid energy

• Environmental Independence

His primary enemy during the Cold War was the Guardsman, though he also clashed with Lady America on occasions. He is also the leader of a team of Soviet "heroes" called the Prevoshodtvoy Sovet (the Soviet Supreme). He took over leadership of the team from Kamandier Sovetskick Sojuz (Commander Soviet Union), who was too aggressive in his anti-Western views and was feared could trigger war with the US.

When Übermann was recruiting for his Super Axis team to take on the Guardians, Krasnuy Karaul rejected an offer to join siting World War 2 as all the reason he needed not to work with a Nazi. He informed his superiors at the Kremlin about the impending attack and they chose to sit on that information instead of warning the Western heroes, despite their status as a UN sanctioned team. Rumour has it that after the death of Guardsman, Krasnuy Karaul was wracked with guilt, though this is just rumour.

Before Krasnuy Karaul lead the Prevoshodtvoy Sovet it was head by a man who once was Guardsman's staunchest ally and later his most implacable foe;

Image

Kamandier Sovetskick Sojuz (Commander Soviet Union) was a hero of World War 2 and a devote communist, Stalin's favourite son. He had been developed as a superhuman as part of the Allied reinforcement of the Soviets after they turned on Hitler in the war. Instead of giving the Soviet's the information to the Infinity Serum, which Doc Titan had used to create America's super soldiers, they instead allowed one candidate to be brought to America and given the treatment.

The candidate was an officer in the fledgling Soviet army who's name remains classified, even by the CIA for reasons unknown. This candidate was such a success that Stalin, after seeing him destroy a captured German tank, created the new rank of Commander for him, making him the highest ranking field officer in the Soviet army.

Throughout the war he worked alongside the Victory Squad on a number of missions, as well as carrying out his own government mandated operations. He was a hero to the Soviet people, who believed that he was in fact a product of Soviet science. After the war he was studied carefully in attempts to duplicate his powers in others, but years of testing and trials failed to produce even one viable Soviet super soldier. Most were just killed or horribly mutated by the process.

For the next 30 years he would be the number one foe of the Guardsman, their battles occurring on almost every continent of the world. He lead a team of Soviet supers called the Prevoshodtvoy Sovet and used them like a hammer against the Guardians. In the end, the Kremlin came to realize that if they did not reign in their super soldier he would bring them in World War 3. On a cold November day in 1981, he was taken into custody and placed in confinement.

When Übermann assembled his Super Axis team, he busted Kamandier Sovetskick Sojuz out of his Siberian confinement, but was intercepted over the Ukraine by Krasnuy Karaul and the Prevoshodtvoy Sovet. While they did nothing to prevent the escape of the Axis members, they stopped the Kamandier, taking him back into custody, where he remains as of this writing.
